Industrial Applications
Secondary Butanol (2-Butanol) is widely used as a solvent and intermediate in industrial and commercial applications. It serves as a precursor in the production of butanone, an important solvent in coatings, paints, adhesives, and cleaning products. Secondary Butanol itself is also used as a solvent in domestic and industrial cleaning formulations, paint removers, and other chemical processes where moderate solvency and miscibility with organic compounds are required.
Physical Properties
Secondary Butanol is a colorless, flammable liquid with a mild alcohol-like odor. It is partially soluble in water and completely miscibile with most organic solvents. It has a moderate boiling point, low viscosity, and is chemically stable under normal conditions. Its flammability and volatility require careful handling and proper storage.
